download failures

I often get a message saying that a download has failed. I have not knowingly requested a download. Also if I do request a download I am asked to use a wifi connection instead of using the mobile intenet connection on the phone. Any ideas?

The download failed message without requesting a download could be the Play Store trying to auto-update some app you have on your device. To turn this off open the Play Store, tap on Settings then Auto-update apps and choose Do not auto-update apps.

A Wi-Fi connection tends to be more stable than a mobile connection in most areas of the US. I personally have only received that particular request when trying to download very large files or programs. The 4G connection in my part of Boston MA is one of the best in the country so the only time I get a download failed over Wi-Fi or 4G is when the file no longer exists on the server.
