not sure where to put this question and didn't find anything in search when i looked - so i apologize if this is in the wrong spot.

i've got plenty of music on my computer as well as pictures that i'd like to put on my Droid.

what's the easiest way to do this? also, if i don't have one of the ringo type apps can i use these songs as ringtones for specific contacts?
 
Firstly create a folder on your SD card named 'music' or whatever you want then mount your phone and copy all your music over. I think the best way is to have sub folders for each album within this folder.

For ringtones etc create another folder on the SD card root, /media/audio and add /alarms, /notifications, /ringtones and /ui. Files placed in these folders show up in the appropriate selection menus (and are ignored by Music). Put the music you want as ringtones in the ringtone file then set up your phone.

For piccies yet again create another folder on SD card called 'piccies' or whatever then transfer over. I have subfolders for each catergory ie family, holidays etc. These folder will automaticallt show up in your 'albums' app or whatever media app you use.

NB You may need to boot your phone after transferring anything although I have never needed to. Also remember that you cannot check your SD card till you have unmounted.
