I was wondering is there any way to set or change the default location for downloading apps to either my phone or SD card? .. My Palm centro had the option to either download to either the phone or SD card.. I was wondering if the Droid has the same option possibilities. Also Is there any way to transfer apps or programs currently stored on the phone to the SD card?

I do know the android can be rooted to change the default configuration or the OS.. But i would believe that there should be some way to regulate the downloads/storage of programs with out changing the OS or reconfiguring it.. As there is a limited amount of storage on the phone it self it would make logical sence..
Does anyone know how to save the actual .apk file (app/game) you download to your storage card (not installed)
The reason I ask is for for the following situations.
I have only had my droid for a few weeks and had windows mobile devices for the past 3+ years. So far I like the android. Once flash is available and 2.1 comes, it will be real exciting. I just need to figure out how to get apps installed on my sd card and not the main memory. I love checking for new apps and games everyday.

- 1.Let's say an update for an app comes out and I install the app, there is no way to revert back to the older verzion (or is there)? It amazes me how often some of these apps/games are downloaded. I have seen times that sometimes an update ruins the program (most times a fix is out within a few days).
- 2.Let's say I need to revert back to my factory settings. Instead of going to the market and searching for 100+ apps/games I have installed, I could have them on my sd card and then install them from my card (i realize it would take up space on my sd card). I know atrackdog creates a list of the apps/games on your sd card BUT not the actual files. I bought the app my backup pro and it is supposed to take a backup - i have saved a backup to my sd card but not restored it. looking in the directory, I didnt see the actual files.
- 3.Once in awhile, an application is removed from the market. I would assume (maybe I am wrong) that if I have the file, I would still be able to install the app and it would work. There wouldnt be support for it.
- 4.With an estimated 150,000 apps/games expected by the end of 2010, im sure it wont take long to fill my main memory and will have to start uninstalling programs I dont use often. I currently have about 65mb free.

If you open MyBackup Pro and go to "Restore," you'll have the option to choose "Applications" or "Data." When you choose "Applications" it takes a while to load, but it will give you a list of your backed-up applications and allow you to choose which to restore. Assuming that you don't overwrite the backup file that contains the application, you would be able to restore that application to replace one that was removed from market.
