When you say "downloaded" what exactly did you do? Were you using an app on your device or were you using a browser on a PC?
The usual method of installing an app is to use an app store like Google's Play Store (if you have a Google account) or others like Amazon's app store. In either case the app gets installed automatically rather than just downloaded, so you must be using a different method.

If it were download and installed via the usual methods, as John Bean says, you should find it in the app draw, under "A" for Amazon Kindle.
