Downloaded Music won't appear in my files

I have a Samsung Galaxy 3 phone and I cannot locate where the songs that I have downloaded are in my files. I want to take those songs and create ringtones out of them and have wasted 2 days on what should be a simple process as the Iphone. Please help, I am at my wits end!!

Install a file manager from the Play Store (I use a free one called File Manager) and use the Search facility to find where the .mp3 files have been placed.

You may need to put them into specific folders in order for the Music Player to find them. I put my music in to /Music and pocasts into /Podcasts however I'm on Vanilla Android so YMMV.
