Help Downloading with Chrome browser

Hello,
I've had the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 tablet for some time now and am getting used to using Chrome.

Chrome from what I understand, is designed to be a really good eficient browser. I always have data saver turned on, to ensure Chrome alerts me to anything that could potentially be malicious whenever surfing online.

My question is: if I'm searching for free mp3 files to download, when on Google searching, apart from Chrome spotting any nasty websites, can Chrome inform me any actual mp3 files are malicious, before downloading?

Cheers,
Bernard Kinney.

I don't use Chrome, but I very, very much doubt it contains tools to analyse the contents of all files you download - that's quite different from warning you of browser redirection or that a site is listed in some database as containing dodgy material.

But on the other hand, what do you expect a malicious mp3 file to do?

MP3 files are data files, not executable files so they require some other program to play them. As data files they cannot be infected.

Chrome is just a browser and it does not have malware, spyware, or virus protection built in.

If you're worried about downloading or possibly being infected by malicious software you can download Malwarebytes for android. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.malwarebytes.antimalware&hl=en

Hi

There is a (free) chrome extension called "Shield for Chrome" which checks all the apps and extensions you add to chrome for malware, spyware and advert pushing. Seems good.
