Dream not performing at best

Since a couple days i notice my Dream is not performing very well. After closing apps (browser, music player, calendar etc.) there's the message "activity home not responding", and i will have to press wait or force close. Getting back to home from the menu-page takes 5-10 seconds (if it doesnt freeze already).

I compared my Dream with my friend's Dream and i noticed mine has only 7.3 mb of internal storage, whereas his has about 30mb.

How come my internal storage is this low? I dont have many apps installed. How do i delete the files that are not neccessary ie. installation files, cache, cookies, and other junk that might cause my phone to slow down.

You may be killing running processes and widgets. This can cause instability. Killing tasks in Android can sometimes be very bad.

He might have fewer apps installed than you?

If you're not rooted, then I can't help you here. But try clearing your browser cache. Launch the browser -> menu button -> settings -> clear cache, clear history. Otherwise, you could also try menu -> programs -> manage programs and manually going through each and pressing "clear data." Er, don't do it to your launcher, though.

Im not killing processes and widgets, the phone manages this part on its own right?
And my friend has about the same amount of apps installed, 20+mb is quite a difference.
I dont think my phone is rooted but once i know more about this (i have this phone for about 2weeks now), i will give it a try.

Any other suggestions to clean up my phone's internal storage?
