Help Driving mode auto response text

JPoker

Newbie
When my wife is driving and I send her a text, I do not get the auto response text. She does not have Bluetooth in her car. I have Bluetooth in my car and she gets MY auto response. Her phone does say driving mode while she is driving though and the auto replay IS checked.
Any idea ?

I believe the Drive Mode ( for texts ) is fully enabled only when connected to a bluetooth connection, that is what triggers it to enable as there is no other way for it to know when someone is driving. So it sounds like you have the settings correct but it still requires the bluetooth connection to go into that mode.

I don t believe that is the case. She see that she is in driving mode. But it does not send the auto text. Plus how many people have Bluetooth in their cars. A MAJORITY don't so if that was a requirement , it would b e a stupid requirement. The device KNOWS when it is moving. From what I read, Bluetooth only adds reliability to driving mode

Right, this is correct (and the BT is a feature you can turn off if you like in the Moto assist app settings.) When the phone is moving faster than a specific speed for a specific period of time (not sure what the specifics are, but probably 15 mph for a minute?), it turns on driving mode. I've had it turn on when I am riding or driving my boat (until I disabled the feature for good.)

My wife does not have blue tooth in her car and it is not set in onto assist. It just doesn't send the auto reply

Try unchecking the auto-reply text and then unchecking drive assist, restart the phone, turn the features back on. See if that helps.

If that doesn't work: Does she have any apps on her phone that you do not have on yours? Something like anti-virus or a security app?

Perhaps it doesn't require, I just thought I'd read that somewhere so passed it on...

As far as a car not having bluetooth... there are BT headsets, add-on BT handsfree kits and even an BT adapter that can be used if the radio has a audio input jack that allows your phones to connect to the radio speakers ( and may have a mic on some models )... so a car itself having BT isn't a show stopper if someone wants it, there are a ton of options available just depending on the users preferences.

My Ford Escape has a BT option but I prefer using my headset which allows me to hear better and also has better wind resistance.

Doogald I tried your suggestion. I will see if that works. I have a feeling it won't. Is there a way to hard boot the unit?

Well, if you haven't tried it yet, I'd suggest doing a wipe of the cache partition. This erases temp and log files and can sometimes fix weird issues like this. It will not erase any apps or data.

See the instructions here: https://motorola-global-portal.cust...er_detail/a_id/108278/p/30,6720,9583/kw/cache

Also, to ask the question: are the texts that you are sending your wife MMS messages or group messages (which are counted as MMS messages), or just plain text messages (i.e., no media and she is the only recipient)?

My text to her phone is a simple text such as TEST. When she texts ME, she gets my auto response. I will try wiping the cache partition.

Ok I wiped the cache partition. Next time we go out we will see if it works.

Nope.. Didn't work. We see her phone go into driving mode but the auto reply is not being sent to me. We have the same phone. A few different apps, but she has the apps that came installed except a Bank app

Have you tried taking her phone in your car (with her connected to your Bluetooth). Just to eliminate if this is or is not the issue. Have her run to the store and grab a pizza and some beer in your car. you know, just to 'test' it out of course.

Are you listening as a favorite contact in her contact list?
