Help Droid 2 Global Flipping out

nvofmarin

Newbie
I contacted my provider and they sent me out a new phone just in the last month, because my old one was flipping out. Well the new one is doing the same, actually worse. I have to constantly turn it off and back on and hope that it will work. Opens programs, calls people, types all on it's own. Plus sometimes it just shakes, like it's epileptic and I am unable to to do anything.
Took the old phone into my provider (verizon) they did a reset, didn't work. New phone, took it in and it started working fine for them. Closed a ton of programs, did not want to do a reset again.
Currently I am barely able to use it, desperate for a fix. Only downloads are banking, a level (bubble), tv guide, THAT'S IT!!!!
Help, please help anybody....my phone is possessed!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's possible, you got another bad phone
or one of your apps is not fully compatible

by your description, it could be a bad digitizer, dirty digitizer, screen protector

device is not rooted?

you really need to wipe data, and reinstall apps one at a time, waiting a few hours between installs, till you can figure out what is going on
if it is not the digitizer

okay so I delete all apps that were downloaded, and then download again but very slowly one at a time, right? what is the digitizer? and should i root my device and how do i do that and why would one need to do that?
Thank you!!!!!

rooting gives you access to your system files, where you could have changed something you should not have

digitizer is the thin glass on your screen, that senses touch, making it a touchscreen
even if there is no noticeable damage, it could be bad

edit; also widgets can cause problems, usually just memory hogs

i am mostly sure i didn't change anything in the system files, have had the phone not even a month, but is there a way to restore? as for the digitizer not sure about that, when it works, it works fine. i have uninstalled all downloaded programs an am now going to reinstall each very slowly. see how that goes....crossing fingers.

you could only change system files, if rooted
and you would know if phone was rooted
you would have to connect to pc and run magic md5 root

so don't worry about that

just to let u know, uninstalled, shut down, waited, reboot, same crap!!! now if i don't touch anything, my hands are not holding the phone at all, it opens stuff, shakes, moves things around, calls people, u name it! and i am not touching it! is that really the digitizer?

definitely have not done that!!! could it be my sd card? since that is the same as the old phone? when verizon sends out the new one, it is without a battery or sd card and the second card (i forget what it's called), so you send back the old phone without these things and put them into your new phone.

you don't have a screen protector on, do you?

I would take back to verizon, tell them you need a different phone

3rd is sim card

you could try formatting sd card, connect to pc first
at transfer everything on sd card to pc
then disconnect, from pc
on phone go to menu>system settings>storage>unmount sd card then select format

i do not. okay so the new one same story as the old one, defective. sadly like i said in the beginning, they want to do a factory reset (which i did with the old phone and lost some information in the process) and only after they do that and it is still not fixed then i can request another phone. the first phone started messing up over a year after i got it, this new one it's not even been a month? u really think it's the screen? what about the cards?

where do u find the sd card in the menu on the pc? opened my computer, android file and data....no...is it in dcim? i know that is for photos, but what it .spmo? prior to writing this thread, i did go into the files while connected to my pc and deleted any downloaded files, i.e. ringtones, pictures not with all the other photos and several adobe pdf files i had on there. nothing crazy...i know not to mess with system files.
i did uninstall all downloaded apps, and on the phone when usb connected to pc, sd card shows empty.
