Help Droid 2 Gmail Wiget Opens Calendar, Others Widgets Open Everything BUT the Right App?

This has happened a few times. My stock widgets like Gmail, Calendar, Browser, etc. Open another app aside from the one its suppose to open.

I've reset the phone (hard and soft), cleared the cache, rebooted, you name it.

I'm NOT rooted so everything is stock or from the Market. I've noticed the screen freezing constantly after I clear the data/cache in the Multi Touch keyboard, don't let it predict the next word or correct spelling automatically (As you can see-lol).

Not only do the widgets go weird on me but now the browser is very, very slow or will not open.

I've never had that issue but the other issues I have had before when Gingerbread first came out.

Verizon says "it's a software issue, we need to send you another device". Yeah right, why another device for a SOFTWARE issue vs a HARDWARE issue?
Besides I've seen too many posts from people who accepted replacement phones only to experience the same problem.

Lastly, I've even performed 2 factory resets but the issues still pop up. I'm at a loss.

How does a 9 month old phone that was brand new, never dropped, wet, or mishandled in anyway suddenly start acting weird when I haven't changed anything or added any new apps after I had the phone for a month. I heard apps can mess things up and I don't need them so I keep it simple.

I would like to open an app and actually get the app I'm trying to open. Now I can't get email without the browser (when it works).

Any ideas, except a replacement phone would be great. I don't want to factory reset again because I have an expensive Docs To Go app that has no more downloads left and I need it to send resumes and cover letters because I don't have a computer.

I would agree with you about the new phone not being a good solution. Getting a phone someone else had a problem with, which may or may not have been properly diagnosed is not really a fix.

The only thing that comes to mind is a virus. I don't run AV software on my phone, but if I were having symptoms like yours I would see what I could find.

Finally, I got something right with an Android device. I had a feeling a refub phone was gonna be trouble.

The problems started when the Gingerbread update came out so I knew the device was not broken. I'm fortunate that I actually got a brand new Droid because when I first signed my contract w/Verizon, I was given a refurbished Blackberry.

The only way I found out was when I got a letter saying that phone had already received a rebate by another Verizon customer.

It took an FCC complaint (and almost going postal in the Verizon store) to get higher up the chain than the store manager.
Then I still had 5 screwed up BB Tour 9630's before Verizon admitted what RIM told me, the device had a "design flaw" and "was replaced with the Bold".

That's a whole different story but I learned if you get a new device, take very good care of it and NEVER accept a used one unless the phone doesn't work.

I'm hoping the glitches in Gingerbread will soon be worked out. Some already seem to have been fixed.

I never thought of a virus so I appreciate you mentioning that. I downloaded a different antivirus/anti spyware app and ran them both. Report came back all OK.

But because I haven't been able to fully research the best paid Antivirus app for android, I'm using the trials. I used Lookouts trial for a long time but wasn't impressed enough to buy it.

Have you heard any feedback regarding which security app is best? The one I have now is AVG Mobile because it had the most downloads. The feedback is only as helpful as the number of people who rated the app.
But I'm not stuck on that app, I'm always open to suggestions. I would LOVE one that can be used on my Asus Eee Pad (as soon as it ships).

Lastly, I have Webroot that I used on my old laptop but I'm not good with computer stuff and that software seemed to be confusing. As far as what to do with various settings. I'm sure I didn't make the most of Webroot because I didn't understand it.

I do know it's a program most people good with computers wouldn't go without. Highly rated (if you can figure it out- LOL).

I just tried opening my gmail icon this morning and it opened the calendar. Maybe I need to delete the apps and reinstall them?

I did that after both factory resets and it worked for awhile but for some reason the issue comes back. I must be doing something wrong. Just don't know what.
