Help DROID 2 Touching phone number within an email is not calling correct number.

When I touch a phone number within an email, it gives me the option to call the phone number, but instead of displaying the correct number (the one I just touched within the email) it displays the last number I previously dialed or called. If I remove the battery, to reset the phone, this feature then works correctly for a while, displaying the correct phone number. Is this a corrupt data file issue? How can this be fixed?
