Root Droid 2 Will Not Root

I have done the step by step tutorial and instructions multiple times, but it does absolutely nothing. Tutorial not work or am I missing something? PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Me too and it pisses me off. Thru demo phones at work and the such I have rooted HTC incredibles 1 &2, Inspire, Droid X, Droid 1, Evo, GS2...etc but IDK what is going on, bought a D2 from a friend for a replacement phone for a few months till I get an upgrade, tried every method I could find and it didnt take. That super one click way even put superuser on it and according to the program I am rooted but unroot wont work and nothing can gain superuser access. I just gave up.

if these are droid 2 global phones that have been upgraded to 2.3.4, as far as i know there is no known way to root. also, DO NOT try to downgrade because you WILL brick your phone. Motorola removed the boot recovery that used to be activated using the "X" key on the keyboard so trying to use it will not work.

I have the 2.3.4 in my Droid 2, if anyone figures out a way to root it, I would sure like to learn the details.

As soon as I, or someone else in the forums knows, you will know. Unfortunately, I think that hopes are slim for rooting the D2G since it is an aging device that already has two predecessors. It also wasn't a very popular phone compared to the original Droid 2 so there isn't as much attention paid to it individually. I still have hopes that it will have an exploit found considering I still have a year before another upgrade and i really would like to root the phone (mostly to rid myself of that pesky bloatware) and I am sure that there are plenty of people that are in the same situation as us but as I mentioned before, it might not be enough people for the dev community to feel like it worth finding an exploit.

Personally, if it was worth it to you as it was to me i would recommend buying a phone off contract if you want to be able to mod it and perhaps flash a custom ROM - I was able to find a used (but in great condition) Droid Incredible on eBay for $85 and it can be (and mine is) rooted.
