droid contacts imported to gmail account

checked sync, but gmail contacts are empty - need my droid contact imported to my gmail account

Are the droid contats listed under Google contacts or phone contacts? You'll need to change them to Google contacts for them to sync. They won't sync to your Google account as phone contacts.
