Droid Eris Help

I'm a little new so I hope I don't offend anyone and post this in the wrong spot. But I wanted to know how to get my original launcher for my droid eris back. I use adw launcher, but I couldn't upgrade my phone when it was time. I think I had to wait my full 2 years which ends in October. My questions were do I have to get my original launcher back on my phone to upgrade and get a new phone and if so can someone guide me on how to do this. basically just return it to factory settings.

Now that I'm getting a better feel for this site I noticed I should have put this in the Android Lounge? But I wasn't sure if there was an app that would help me or not and I didn't want to just posh the same thing twice. So again my apologies if I put this in the wrong spot.

Settings -> applications -> manage applications
Now scroll to the current launcher (adw) and select it to open the details. Scroll down to the button labeled "clear defaults"
Now when you hit the home key it will pop-up a box asking which do you want to use and has a checkbox to make the choice the default. This is when you would select the Sense launcher.
