Droid Eris OTA update today

JMontague

Lurker
Hello all,

Just woke up to the message on my Eris screen informing me that there is an update available.......I installed and am anxiously awaiting the reboot to see what's in store...

UPDATE: it doesn't really seem to have done much except for wipe the 'Taskiller' app off my home screen (sigh)

Does anyone know if memory enhancements were made? It seems my phone has more free memory after this latest udate. I use the advanced task manager app to close out applications when not in use and after the update it seems the available memory is much higher than it used to be with the same handful of apps that are always running.

Voice Dialer seems to always be running in the background for some reason. I never use this and I've had to close it out a few times already.

I noticed I was able to answer a call a lot quicker. It actually responded when I touched "Answer" ! I have had many issues where it won't respond and I won't answer the call in time.

what in store??? LOLz all the updates so far have caused random lockups and many apps to stop functioning all together. (Youtube) They have done much more harm than good.

@ Gremlin you should be able to go through 'Settings' - 'About Phone' - 'System Updates'

@ Napster like a few of the other posters on this thread i noticed a brief burst of speed, but after that nothing seems to have changed.

I too seem to have more free memory, could be wishful thinking though. Glad they pushed this update, I actually did experience the non-responsive screen issue once and had to pull the battery to reset.

i too woke up randomly at 2:30am and couldnt go back to sleep b/c for whatever reason i was hoping that there would be 2.0 and was dissapointed and still couldnt go back to sleep. havent noticed any updates but calling answer seems quicker

I have the Droid Eris and evidently did not get the OTA update. My software version is 1.16.605.1. When I 'check for system updates' it indicated that 'your system is currently up to date'. Does anyone know if the OTA updates go out to all phones or is this managed in some other way. Thanks.

This update was suppose to fix the issue with the lockscreen freezing up.

Thanks for the info. Where did you find it? It would be nice to read all about it.

Also, when there is an update, how can we tell what item was changed? That is, how can we tell if it was: firmware, baseband, kernel, etc? Can we see what the old version # was for these items? Then we can compare to the current values.

Looks like some got the update several days ago, but I just got my notification today for my Droid Eris.

I have had some problems since the update, when I get a call, it was making me actually unlock my phone then I could answer. Or when I wanted to end a call, I had to unlock the phone then I could end it. It was kind of strange, so I restarted my phone and haven't had problems since.

@ vpelton - My software version is now 1.17.605.1, so it must have updated in the last 48-ish hours. There was no notification, per se. I checked the version and there it was.
