Droid Incredible not so incredible bug issue

Hi all:

Can't say ive had alot of luck so far with my HTC Droid Incredible. Current bug or issues I need help with is as follows

When I go to make a call I hit the rather life size phone button on the touch screen.

Which then brings me to the call directory where i dial my number and or hit a recently call. Now usually a droid bot will pop up with the number and connect.

However, more frequently what happens is the number doesn't show up and my droid goes black, and it calls the person but i cant see or end the call. Or it will not even bring me to the number will just lock up at the call directory.

That said, I have power on and off phone, reset battery, and call verizon to reset network. Both were temporary fixes and problem reoccur everytime.
Any tips, similiar issues or fixs suggestions are welcome, the droid is about not even a week old by the way.

Sounds like a defective handset. I'd have Verizon replace it.

I agree. Something is wrong with your handset, and you should take it back. I'll bet there is something wrong with the proximity sensor. When you hold the phone to your face, the proximity sensor detects that and turns the screen off to save battery life. My Evo was clowning this way once and I turned off my phone, cleaned the screen and cleaned the speaker with a cotton swab, and powered back on. VOila! problem fixed. If this does not fix your incredible, you have a faulty proximity sensor and your phone needs to be replaced.

^yeah^ What they said. I'm finding the HTC build quality to be disappointing, very disappointing. I'm waiting on my replacement for numerous issues that I'm having with my current phone (touch screen problems, pink screen, during active calls with plenty of signal the sound goes dead for either myself or the other person while the call stays active, random locks and reboots, speakerphone issues, etc). I'm really hoping the next one is better. Been a disappointment so far. I thought I'd LOVE it, but the little things are getting really annoying.
