Droid Turbo 2 Water Durability Request

We all know the Turbo 2 is really durable when it comes to drop testing. What I would really like to see is someone doing water torture tests on it. If anyone has any connections, could you forward this request on to them.

Info direct from Motorola...

Advanced nano-coating technology creates a water repellent barrier to help protect against moderate exposure to water such as accidental spills, splashes or light rain. Not designed to be submersed in water, or exposed to pressurized water, or other liquids. Not waterproof.

Thanks. I should have clarified. I know it has the nano coating and is not rated to be waterproof. The phone is not rated to be dropped from a high distance either. But there are plenty of videos of people doing what it is not rated for just to show how much abuse it can take. I remember a video about a Galaxy S6 that is not rated at all for water but was put in a bowl of water with the timer running and it lasted quite a while.

I do not have the money to buy a phone and do the tests myself. I just want to try and get this message out to the people who are destroying these phones to test how long the phone will last in water.

I bought a Droid Turbo 2 on Monday 12/21. On Wednesday 12/30 my new baby took a ride in the washing machine. A short ride, I caught it about 10 minutes into the cycle. Didn't matter. I turned it off immediately, tried the (still not sure it works...) bag of rice trick for 2 days, turned it on. Screen sort of kind of worked for about 1/2 day and then it slowly died.

Unfortunately back to Verizon I went, paid off the $324 and started over

I wouldn't anticipate it is very water resistant based on my one experience.

Resistant means the parts are coated and resist a splash of water ... maybe.

Submerging it in water for 10 minutes? That would look for something that is water proof.

I was forced to move everything from one phone to another.
  • NEVER carry your phone in your shirt pocket.
  • It took 9 years but I finally got nailed.
  • It was submerged in mop water for about 4 seconds with the power on.
  • Will not recognize SIM and battery drops from 100 to 0 in about an hour.
I had everything moved to the new phone except call history and SMS conversations.

I encountered a great (free) utility (recommend by chompSMS) that did exactly what I needed ...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore&hl=en

Install it on the old phone.
Ran backup.
It places all data in an easy to find folder.
Copy folder to new phone.
Install it on new phone.
Ran restore.
Done.
