Help Droid2 wont start up Charger light blinks once when charger is connected but will not stay on

So I bought this phone a few weeks back with a cracked digitizer but it still worked perfect. I bought to the digitzer and replaced it but in the process accidentally ripped the flex ribbon cable. Ordered a replacement flex cable and set it up and put the phone back together and now the phone will not turn on. The charger light turns on for a split second right when the charger is connected but it wont stay on. After a while of leaving the charger connected (even with the light off) the phone gets hot. The phone wont start up period. Any help or tips will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. its a A956.
