2.3.5 could play videos. However, what format are you trying to play, & what app are you trying to use?
Can watch utube but thats it would like to watch hulu

So are you trying to watch in an app (if so which), or using a browser, or what? Giving a full description of what you are doing, how you are doing it and what exactly won't work will be better than bit by bit.
Mind you, I've never looked at Hulu in my life, so don't know how far I'll be able to help personally. But the more you tell us the more likely someone will be able to.
If you want to watch downloaded videos then VLC should handle most formats.
