Drop box Frustration

Hi,

It seems that drop box is overzealous when it comes to syncing. Rather than just uploading and syncing from my SD picture folder, it also seems to duplicate pics into another folder on my device. This seems like an uneccessary step. I am wondering if this has something to do with the awesome latest android update which limits many of my apps from writing to the SD card... Is there a workaround to have drop box sync only from my SD photo folder and not auto download photos back to my device? I have been struggling to maintain device storage space now that games are huge and app2sd is largely useless and just drops "compatible" games into the device virtual SD. Help?!

Hmm, it could have something to do with what you were suggesting. Have you ever considered rooting the device so that you can read/write full privileges to the SD card?
 
Maybe it's because the behavior you are isn't normal? I've had dropbox for a couple of years, plus I have autosync on and it's not creating duplicate files.

Thanks for the replies. I've been investigating rooting but haven't done it yet because I wasn't sure if I'd lose all my data. From what I'm reading it seems pretty simple and painless. Am I under the right impression? :-)
