You're right and wrong. Yes it is owned by Sprint and yes it does hut them.
Stock owners don't like prepaid. More prepaid = lower stock price.
And the point of my post was right now I pay "Sprint" $140 a month if I switch I will pay $50 a month. Same services - 4g. My up front out of pocket will be $800 (2 phones and 2 ETFs). Ohhhh sounds like a lot.
Let's keep going shall we. 12 months * 140 = $1,680 (Sprint)
12 months * $50 = $600 (Virgin)
So in 1 year I save: $1,680 - ($600+800) = $280
In year 2 I save: $1,680 - 600+ $280 = $1,360
It's like I gave myself a pay raise.
And your etf may be lower than $200, apparently it depends on how much time is left on your contract.
lol -4g like more than 1% of customers have it in the first place
That's a good deal for the optimus and with all these contract changes I wonder if there's a way to get out without the fee
This sounds good BUT, does I've heard that even though Virgin is a Sprint company, only Sprint uses the Verizon towers to roam, which means that you would have a lot less coverage. Is this correct?
yeah.... i've been wondering what are the benefits with staying with sprint... over boost/virgin.
other than wimax and better coverage.
My fear is that they may be baiting people into Virgin Mobile with this awesome deal and then pull a sprint and screw everyone over within a year.
As of right now, I have a everything data family shared plan with 5 phones (one is a "dumb" phone, one is a Palm, and the other three are Androids). I pay $214 a month including taxes (I do have a company discount) and have 1500 shared minutes plus the free mobile-to-mobile, the nights and weekends beginning at 7PM, etc. I'm going to go ahead and stay since the $10 increase per smartphone will not affect me for about another year when it is contract renewal time. I travel a lot so a wide coverage area is important to me, and so far I have not been disappointed in my service. When contract renewal time comes around I'll do price comparisons and if Sprint's prices are still the lowest for my needs, I'll probably stay with them and just drop a line (which I would have to do even if I went to another carrier).
Roam and CS...that's it.
Yeah, I don't blame you for leaving Jen. That is the most economic decision for you. If it were just me (in other words, only one phone) I didn't travel so much, and didn't get the employee discount, I would probably do the same as youEspecially since I've heard that there will be (is??) an Optimus for Virgin. We have an EVO but I carry around the Optimus and it is a great phone!
That depends on where you live. For a lot of people switching to either boost or virgin would mean a lack of coverage and therefore a less usable phone.
The Optimus is available today though on Virgin.
V for Virgin! LG Optimus V is available today at Radio Shack for $149 | Android Central
You know, Jen, I had the same problem at first but now I fly on the virtual keyboard, especially when I turn the phone horizontally. I thought I would hate it and was a little reluctant about changing. As I played around on the EVO more and more I got better with the virtual thing so when it was time for an upgrade I decided I'd give it a try and I'm really glad I did. I have to admit I got frustrated quite a few times thoughI have the Optimus S and while it is a great phone I'd rather go back to a keyboard. I'm used to a BB so I type too fast and have to go back and fix at least 3 words every time I text.![]()
He said what's the difference OTHER than 4G and coverage.
