Drop Sprint and go Virgin if you don't like the $10 fee

issue solved... you need a bigger screen or a real keyboard.

I completely agree! I was gonna get the Rumor Touch on Virgin but everyone says it's crap. Don't want to go too dumbphone with the Rumor 2 but the only other one is the Intercept which is cool because it's Android but lots of problems with those too. I might try the Touch and if I hate it go to the Intercept and flash 2.2 on it. :)

you going to save $60 a month.. $720 a yr.

why not do some research.. see if you can get EVO or EPIC .. if they are flashable to these carriers.

I know the EVO van be flashed to MetroPCS and Boost. I see them on craigslist all the time. and can get an EVO that that has a bad ESN for less than $200.

Thanks. Looks like Virgin is a no go, it is possible on Boost but seems very entailed and kind of illegal. I would use a Nextel on Boost or vise versa because it's a SIM but don't want to get into flashing and stuff.

I'd consider this if I can get the top of the line phones. Can I just straight up buy ... say the Evo 2 when it comes out and use Virgin or Boost?

I'm so glad everyone's discussing the prepaid options bec I'm contemplating switching.
So let me get this straight...
With Virgin & Boost both there is NO roaming? Or roaming is limited to Sprint-owned towers only?
What about long distance? Is long distance included with your bill? Last I knew, with Cricket you had to pay extra for long distance but that's been years ago.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Cricket owned by AT&T? I thought I'd heard AT&T bought them out but I could be mistaken.

If anyone has success getting out of their contract without the fee please post here i'm ready to stop overpaying for my cell phone bill.

It is easy to get out of your contract. You pay the fee. You signed up and knew it was 2 years and knew that if you wanted out before then there was a fee to go along with it. Pay it and then you will be free and clear.

Jen, I have shorter nails (have to since I work in IT) but I can understand why it would be difficult to use the virtual keyboard with longer nails. Just on a regular typewriter, if my nails get too long I make typos out the wazoo. Part of my problem with adjusting to the virtual keyboard was merely the fact that I wasn't feeling anything. It is all flat! You can set up the vibrate feature which I did but all that succeeded in doing was startling me, like I was getting zapped or something, every time I hit a key ;) Now I have set it up to where it makes a little click every time I hit a key, and in conjunction with using it more and more I've gotten a whole lot more accurate. I am also thinking about trying a different keyboard, I know there are some out there that have gotten good reviews. :) Carrie

I have really long nails and it definitely takes some time to get comfortable with a touch screen. Using the flats of your thumbs is the easiest way I have found to do it. I type just as fast on my EVO now as I did on my Bold. I have found that Swype and the Gingerbread keyboards work best with long nails. For me at least.
