Dropbox on Androids

Copied folders and files into the Dropbox
file system on a windows machine. On my LG android,
the Dropbox program shows the file structure as
it should be with all the folders and files in place.

However, the FX and Explorer file managers on the
android do not show some folders and a lot of the
files, for example, down in a third level folder,
only 2 of 16 files are listed. On an older Milestone
android, very few folders and files are listed.

The dropbox system works well on PCs and an Ipad, so
there appears to be a serious problem for dropbox :mad: on androids.
 
Dropbox on android doesnt work the same as PCs. For example, on PC's, each one you sign in on, a local dropbox folder is created which sync's all your stuff. On Android, this doesnt do that. Its a shame.

You can mark something a favourite and it stores it off line. I just use Solid Explorer to explore my Drop box (which is my main file manager now) and that seems to work well, but you need a connection to the internet for that
 
I use Dropbox extensively with FX File Explorer and everything works perfectly. FolderSync let's me keep everything synced between Dropbox, Google Drive and multiple mobile devices and computers.

Dropbox, FX and FolderSync are terrific tools.

it seems a lot of apps that are on both iOS and Android have the iOS focus. they always perform and work a lot better on iOS, whereas the Android ports are watered down pathetic copies. it's the same with Facebook, Weather Channel, and other apps.

Android shines more on apps that are exclusive to the platform, not apps that are ported from other OSs.

BlackBerry has it the worst. you should see the pathetic ports of the above on that platform.
 
DropBox on Android seems more of a "Let's make it easy as pie to *share* items *FROM* your Android device to the cloud. For sharing files to my Android devices I prefer Google Drive and SugarSync.

FWIW, I'm with SURoot also - Solid Explorer gives me the dual pane goodness that I have been using for years via Xplorer^2 (and its free predecessor, 2Xplorer) in Windows. It's a godsend on my tablet, and pretty decent on my BIONIC as well.
 
Yep. I only have one small docs folder I could sync for offline use with folder sync which already backs up my sd to nas.

With 2 panes in solid though, I can connect to my linux box/nas via sftp (ssh) in one pane and upload to dropbox in another panel from anywhere in the world
 
Hmmm. I haven't explored the possibility of using Solid with RDP, but when I RDP to my Machine I Have it map local drives in the box, so it's just as easy to use Xplorer^2 in the RDP session. But for simple file copy / access operations, that's obviously overkill.

Time to start looking into Solid for remote file access capabilities to my Win box - this is gonna be fun :D
 
I use it all the time. Not so much to my winbox. All the data is on the nas so I sftp into the linux box (just to have access to all) and get there from there.

OT but I dont know what to do with my local storage. I've copied all my movie's, music and data of the NAS onto my win media pc (which run better there) so I can do some work on my NAS. I have no redundancy on the win box (3x 1TB Drives, spanned) but the hd movies run so much smoother. Ideally I want to make the NAS expandable for all my needs. Aarrggh
