Help Dual 4G in Note 9

Marka01

Lurker
Hi,

I have a poor 4G coverage in my area from a cellular provider that I use. Was thinking about idea to insert a secondary 4G sim card which has a better coverage in the area. Wanted to know if anyone tried it in practise and if this works? In terms of does it use both 4G sim cards for internet as a load balance or just 1 at a time and how does it prioritise?

Depends as some devices that are not unlocked block data for SIM 2. But AFAIK only SIM 1 has access to the 4G antenna.

Mine is bought from official samsung and is unlocked. So basically if I insert second 4g card it will give me no benefit 4g wise?

I've never heard of a SIM-locked dual-SIM phone, and AFAIK there's no such thing. Dual-SIM phones are mostly in Asia, countries like China and India, where phones are sold without subsidised carrier contracts, and Samsung does sell them directly in Europe with no carrier obligations. The second SIM you can use with any carrier, and for 3G/4G data you manually select to use SIM1 or SIM2 in the phone's settings. There's no load balancing, aggregation, prioritising or anything fancy like that.
