Dual Audio Bluetooth

Now i dont know about anyone else, but I have used the dual bluetooth audio option on my phones since my S8plus as I do love to have a stereo speaker setup at work.

And today was no different, at work lots of paperwork to catch up on and needed to blast some music out! (Its ok I'm in the office on my own)

All you need do is pair your sets of speakers, go into the advanced bluetooth settings and switch on Dual audio. Great! Once done you never need to do a thing, just switch the speakers on and away you go.

Well.... I've not used the function for a while and for some unknown reason it just would not work this morning. It would say they are both connected for audio, but would only play from 1 speaker. (changes depending on which one gets the handshake first) So I checked the settings and low and behold the dual audio setting has vanished!!

I restarted, no help. Disconnected the speakers and reconnected, no help. Right.. unpaired them and reconnected them. Oh..what's this! A popup appears telling me I can use dual audio - touch hear!! I did!

Which took me to a media section I've not seen before. (and cannot find if I search the settings page) And low and behold at the bottom i can see only one speaker is set to play, i enable the other speaker and we are good to go.

I came out of there and noticed the audio was out of sync so i switched them off and on again. Back to 1 speaker, wtf... could I find this bloody media page again?? Nope, it's a hiding! Had to re-pair them to get the popup to reappear and figured out this was the annoying media controls I disabled from the pull down shade months ago, so I had to re-enable that to get back to this page when needed.

But here is the crack, everytime you connect your speakers you have to pull down the shade, touch Media, slide down and enable the dual audio. Every freaking time!!! What sort of backwards crap is this??

Lets take a simple function that just works and make it a ball ache to use and to top it off I now have to put up with this Samsung hack of media control on my shade! (See pic)

Yeah thanks..

:mad::oops:

What a hassle! I never knew the dual BT ability existed so I guess I haven't lost much. But oh how I have longed to connect speakers vs speaker via BT. The ability and the removal of the option happened while I was zoned out I guess.:) Looking at your screen shots and the naming of the speakers.... do the BT speakers need to be alike or can they be completely different? ....a whole new interest in the BT tunes for the party on the patio scenario.

No, you can use any mix of bluetooth speaker. The only reason mine match is that I had been using a single unit for a few years, then dual audio appeared so I purchased a 2nd one.

But I will say it is very handy to have matching pairs as you will get the same volume and sound quality from the stereo pair. And even with these little units they sound bloody good.

This is something I've never seen before. Is it specific to Samsung Galaxy devices?

FWIW any Bluetooth speakers I've used are stereo already.

Not as far as I know @mikedt - I thought it was to do with the newer BT standards. How it is implemented might however mean that not all devices allow it. My last 2 phones have been Samsung so cannot confirm this.

Yeah of course, but if you use 2 speakers they turn into a genuine stereo pair, panning left to right with the flow of music. Sounds great when well spaced out in your room.

I got a Huawei Mate 10 with Android 10, and it's got nothing like that. It can pair multiple BT audio devices, but it only plays to one device at a time.

My home listening I got a mains powered 2.1 speaker set. The BT part, amp, and controls are in the subwoofer, with the wired left and right satellite speakers spaced about 8ft apart. If I'm anywhere else I'll use headphones.

I believe you need Bluetooth 5.0 for dual audio @mikedt My S8+ and obviously my S10+ has this version. It looks like your version is 4.2.. I think!

Absolutely! This change is retrograde and infuriating. I cant be manually selecting a second device when im driving. Ive downgraded to Android 9 and will be staying there until this is fixed

I believe the Note8 can play two different sets of Bluetooth devices at the same time..in two different channels
