Dumb newbie question

Hi all, just bought my first Android, a Galaxy Tab S 10.5".

My dumb question: How can I find my my OS version?

Which leads to another related question: Can I prevent my OS from updating itself?

And not sure about preventing your device from updating,I would take the updates as they usually fix things.

Re preventing updates, I've noted a few online comments saying Lollipop wasn't a great update. I have no idea why, but I thought that if there was any doubt about it, I'd skip it.
