Dumb Question-how do I scroll down dialog box using Chrome?

I swear I am not stupid.

My wife got me a Dell android tablet for reading.
I really like it so far. However, the one thing that frustrates me is I don't know how to select the drop downs on certain sites. Like for example on cnnsi.com
I will want to select the "scores" option under MLB, but I don't have a chance to do that. It just clicks on the very top link and takes me to main MLB page instead of that section. Don't have time to pick anything. Other site is dpreview.com Under forums you can select the drop down box to pick which forum you want to go to, but every time I click it it just goes to the main forums page. Can't select one under the drop down box. It goes too quickly.

I hope this is making sense.

Hi pittguy578,

I believe you on the claim that you're not stupid, so don't worry about that. :D

Unfortunately, some sites use flash (or similar) based navigation, which sometimes just straight doesn't work as intended on mobile devices. That said, some browsers do handle it better than others. Have you tried Firefox just to see if it works better?

Edit: Disregard that ^, as it doesn't seem to apply in this case - though it is a janky design on cnnsi.com's part though.

I was experimenting on my end to try and figure out a work-around, but now I can't even get the page to load. I'll keep tinkering and see if I can figure anything out - though it may still be worth trying another browser to see if it handles it any better.

On a PC browser, is that drop down menu reached via a mouse over action? A mouse over action is where you move the mouse pointer over the item and don't click anything. Then a drop down menu appears.

If this is the case, a mouse over action on an Android browser can be done, but it is tricky to pull off. What you do is tap on the item and then wait about half a second. Then drag your finger away while still contacting the screen. Then you will see the drop down menu and then you can tap on the item you want. It is tricky to pull off because if you wait too long after the tap before dragging your finger away, it won't work. If you don't wait long enough before dragging your finger, the screen will scroll.

Okay, finally got cnnsi.com to load again for me, and navigated to MLB > Scores/Schedule without trouble. I also tried dpreview.com, went to Forums, and scrolled through the list (again, without trouble).

The only thing I can think of is that I do appear to have received the mobile-friendly versions of those sites. If I tick the "Request Desktop Site" box in the Chrome menu, I get vastly different layouts which don't appear to be touch optimized at all. Tapping on Forums as dpreview.com, for instance, gets the drop-down to appear, but that quickly disappears as the page loads the main Discussion Forums page. It looks like those sites just don't have touch-friendly interfaces, I'm afraid. :(
