Duplicate contacts removal recommendations

Are the contact listings from different email services or the same?

I'd import everything into one place, preferably my Gmail account, and use its 'Duplicates' feature to initially weed out/sort similar entries, and then just sit down and edit/merge those findings, hopefully ending up with a final, cleaned up, master contacts list. I'd also do this on a PC with a decent sized monitor. If you're working on a pretty large number of contact entries it'll be easier to see what you're comparing on a larger screen and easier to edit text with a keyboard and mouse than a smartphone screen with its touch interface.

You can the following third-party apps, they let you search easily for duplicate contact and give you an organized and clean contact list:
Duplicate Contacts Fixer
Contacts Optimizer
Merge Duplicate Contacts & Cleanup by Simpler
Duplicate Contacts Remover

If you have a Google account a good way to clean up your contacts is to go here https://contacts.google.com to add/delete any of them.
As for duplicate contacts in your SIM card should change when you update your information in there. These changes may take up to a few minutes to a few hours to take affect.
