e-mail app question

How many of you are using the "stock" gingerbread email client? Would any of you recommend another? sometime it takes forever to send mail from the stock app and when it says "sent" recipients don't get the email.

Sounds like it may be a connection issue, but I'd recommend switching to using the GMAIL App instead.

Can you set up "Comcast" and other pop3 accounts on gmail app?

No, the Gmail app only works with gmail accounts.
There are other generic email apps on the android market for use with pop3 formats. Some are free, some are not.
One that comes to mind that has been recommended on this site before was the K-9 mail app.
I had used the gingerbread generic e-mail app with a hotmail acct for a while and didn't have problems with it.
