Help E-Mail stopped auto updating

I noticed a few weeks ago my phone stopped pushing email. I can go into the Gmail app and refresh it and it will download new email but it won't do it on its own. The only thing that has changed is I increased my security on my gmail account so you have to authorize every device that accesses the account. This device has been authorized so I don't think it is that. Anyone have any experience with this?

I have had similar situation with my Yahoo app.
All I did to resolve the problem was to uninstall/remove the app and re install it.
