Early Upgrade Question

Was wondering a few details about getting an early upgrade. I started my contract in January of this year, it has 4 lines. I've been reading that early upgrades are only available for the primary line. Well my Droid isn't the primary line... if I were to switch my Droid to the primary line (can I even do that?), would I be able to early upgrade it? Would I get an early upgrade in January? Or when? How would I go about getting an early upgrade? The VZ website mentions absolutely nothing about early upgrades.

Sign up for an account on verizonwireless (free). I get emails every few weeks offering the early upgrade. My phone is on a new in 2 starting November 2009. I have received emails for the DROID X at $50 (as early as April) and 2 year extension, and the DROID 2 for $100 and 2 year extension.

You can also go to your local verizon store and see what they can do.

IMHO, two things in your favor: 1. verizon wants the D1 off the market so it can be replaced with "non-rootable" phones 2. they want to lock us in before the next generation of new phones tempt us away to other carriers.

You don't need to switch any phones, the primary line will be eligible for Early Upgrade (as long as you meet the qualifications) regardless of the device thats on it. Once your line qualifies (once it's been a year), it will tell you online.

Can anyone confirm this? I've read conflicting posts.
