Easy free text to speach app (text messages)

I have the Lg Optimus V through Virgin mobile. Looking on the phone, I noticed that it has Pico TTS preinstalled, but I can't figure out how to get that to work for the life of me. I've tried the drivesafe.ly app, but it only reads 25 words with the free edition. I then tried handcent, but I hate that you have to long hold the message every time and scroll down to the speak text option. Unless there's an easier way to use the text to speach in handcent, or if someone can tell me how to use the preinstalled pico tts, are there any more apps that are free and easily read your texts out loud with a simple push of a button or something? All I really care about it reading is text messages, nothing else really matters. I've done numerous searches everywhere and I just cannot find what I am looking for. Any help would be great. Just to let you know, I am looking for TEXT to SPEECH, NOT speech to text. Seems like everywhere I searched everybody is getting the 2 confused. I want my texts read to me, I know how to use speach to text.
 
I appreciate the link, but I'm kind of a little leery on downloading an app with only 500 downloads.... I'm pretty new to smart phones so I don't really know how to tell what's safe and what isn't.
 
I haven't the app installed, so I looked in Google Market for its access rights - seems to be ok for me :)
