EBook Organizer Wanted

rvdiehl

Lurker
I use tablets (Nexus 7 and Samsung Tab4) plus my phone with the Nook and Kindle apps for e-books. Would somebody please develop an app that can query my Nook and Amazon accounts to build a single list of my books? I have so many now, I can't remember if I read something or on which app without pulling up the web sites. This will need to include the archives, and of course ask for permission from me to access the accounts.
Thanks.

Ever tried Calibre? It does all of that. It's free. You have to do some work to start the organization, but once set up, you're good.

I have an old Nook wifi, a cheap Kindle, and a Kobo Glo. It can connect to all those sites.

This forum has a section on Calibre - it's free to read, but you will have to join (free) to participate:

I did try Calibre. The problem is that I would have to manually enter all of the ebooks I currently have. I know there must be a way to ready the file extensions (epub and mobi) already on my device and list them for me (including book names).
Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Did you check all the plugins? I have the ones for Kobo, but there should be some for Kindle and Nook.
Those are under preferences and you have to download them. There are also tweaks for sorting on importing.
If there's a common type tag for your books, it will sort by tags. Some you can customize if you know how.

There's a sticky on plugins for Calibre on the MobileRead forums.

Calibre will connect with your device. It will import books into a library unless yours are all DRM and you read them on the bookseller's reader or device only. In that case, you will just have to use the default cloud for a library.

When I open Calibre, I can import from device, and should I want to export, I can export to device or SD card.

If you are talking about adding genre to the sort, you might have to tag books anyway.

Even if you did a spread sheet sort, you'd have to tag the genre.

Most of the classifications are set up in a drop down menu for a virtual library in Calibre.

Thanks for the tip on plugins. I've just spent the last 2+ hours working with Calibre. It is a great database program, and it does way more than what I need. It will still require me to find and enter all of my archived books, but it is a start.
Android is so hidden from the user -- all I really want is a list of the books in my Nook and Kindle accounts.
I'll keep watching, and use Calibre in the meantime.

Where are your archived books? I think Kindle has a way of getting them - Nook, I don't know. You would have to read the both forums on Mobileread. The Kindle app for Windows has a list of archived books. If all else fails, you could Print screen each section. I didn't see a print list in the menu and I didn't feel like logging in to Amazon for help.

I have my Kobo plugged in but I don't have any archived books. I did look through Calibre and found this heading under HELP
Creating AZW3 • EPUB • MOBI Catalogs
