Edit Go Launcher GoWidget QuickContactBar

Is there a way to change the apps (icons) that are added to the QuickContactBar when one selects a contact from the Contacts GoWidget. The default programs are added automatically without the user having the ability to select which apps to use as default.. phone, email, messaging... etc. I set the widget to display my favorite contacts, but removing and re-adding them makes no different. I have also cleared the widget data, but it makes no difference. My default email is K-9 and I use Textfree for messaging.

I'm checking it right now, and the first time you tap any of the options it should ask you to choose the default program to use (or select the one default one if you have it set on your phone to being with).

For example, with texting (and GO SMS being a pain in the behind, since it doesn't remember my default choice) I got to choose between it, the stock app and whatsapp. In terms of email, K9 is already shown as my default mail app.

Maybe try to re-install the widget app? I'm pretty sure that one is a stand-alone download

Go to menu>settings>applications>messaging>clear defaults.

Now everytime you click on anything that opens SMS, it will ask you what to use as default for that action. The next time you click that link, it will open the app you selected as default automatically.
