Edward Snowden: Traitor or Hero?

I'm thinking .. both.

Clearly, he appears to have broken the law - and specific rules he signed up to - and that would make him a traitor, on the other hand, throwing away his life to let people know about such intrusive programs would appear to be pretty heroic ..

.. even though none of this could have come as a surprise to anyone who'd been taking the slightest bit of notice over the last 11 years. It is pretty much precisely what the Patroit Act was designed to achieve.
 
Hero. At lease someone has the guts to tell us what is REALLY going on with this corrupt government. If anything, Obama is the traitor. Especially since he promised to STOP the illegal wiretapping!

if there were no risk in doing what he did then everyone would do it

that risk is being a traitor

so hes either both or neither
 
Hero or traitor...that is very murky since our country was founded on it.

Depends on what kind of deal he cuts to keep his life and/or stay out of prison. If he provides classified information to a foreign state in exchange for his life or to avoid torture...then he should be held accountable for it by a jury of his peers (whether that results in his death I do not care, as long as due process happens).
 
He's a hero. He gave up everything because for what he thought was right. Did you see the girl he left behind? That's reason enough to stay

He is a hero. He released something illegal done by the government, since they had no right to do that, what a surprise that someone released it.

They accused him of being a terrorist and compromising our security. Few weeks have passed, and there is no proof of him compromising our security because he did not do any damage. None is dead or injured, our economy is still in place, no secrets were sold/released to other countries, ect. He just released the truth that did not hurt any of us, only our government's reputation, but again, who's fault is that?

Well certainly, unlike Manning, he did not carelessly release information which put lives at risk. He seems to have had things planned out and such.

Even the Manning did not do the harm that press told us about. Main argument was that "her already has blood on his hands" meaning it caused number of deaths to US soldiers. It's not true. It has been years and no one has proven it to be true.
 
Anymore, standing up for the right thing borders on breaking the law and being a traitor. The founding fathers of America were traitors, but they did the right thing and became heros.
 
Just exposing the lies of our government. Traitor he may be, but as said before.. the men who founded this country were traitors and I am sure they would have stood up and done the same thing.

This former Senator appears to be sticking his neck out. Maybe the MSM will start concentrating on what information Snowden released rather then attempting to create a daytime soap opera. Snowden's reply is also in the cited article.

It has been given to him for a year. So it's not that temporary, and it's renewable. You'd expect to get a letter from Russia to US (if US was hiding someone) that they are not going to torture or give out a death penalty.
