Email App Suggestions Needed!

MCJ

Lurker
Hi all! I just got my Droid Incredible on Friday on LOVE the phone. I am an old Blackberry user.

I have a question about sorting emails. With the current program on the phone, you cannot create folders to sort your incoming emails. I work on a lot of different projects and would like to move the emails into their corresponding folders when they arrive. That way I can select a folder and have all the email pertaining to that project in that one folder.

Does anyone know of an app on the Market that will allow you this functionality?

Any help is appreciated!

Thx,
MCJ

Not sure if this will do what you need but K-9 (available free in the market) is about the most full featured email program for Android.

Thanks Shrink57. I'm checking it out right now.

I have one question regarding the setup of K-9. It asks "Folder poll check frequency" and is set to "Never" by default. What is a "Folder poll check"?

Thx.
MCJ

I think I figured it out. I believe it should be "pull" check. I sets how often the DI will check the email account and pull new emails. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Does anyone use the K-9 app? It mentions folders, assigning classes to folders, but I cannot figure out how you add the folders? I don't even see a draft folder. Just my inbox.

On their website, they mention how to assign the classes to folders which I understand. However, in their first example, they show assigning classes to the Inbox and some other folders they have but do not explain where/how the other folders were created.

Here's a copy of the text from their website showing the description of the first example:

Use case 1: Just a few folders
I want to see just my Inbox, Janet and Carl folders, and want all of those to be automatically synchronized. (Imagine I have 100 other folders that I do not want to see.)

I'd like to know how/where the Janet and Carl folders were created. I hope it's not all based off using the gmail account. I don't want to have to upload my POP3 account into a gmail account just to be able to create a folder.

Thx.

Unfortunately, it seems to be based off using the gmail account. I set up my gmail account in K-9 and was able to see and set classes to the default folders in my account.

It's hard to believe someone hasn't come up with a way to do this for POP3 accounts that are set up on the phone.

I really like what I see with the K-9 app. It looks like my only work around is to assign "stars" on incoming emails for my current project. Then I can sort the emails based off the "star" flag.

If anyone knows of a different app that may do what I'm looking for, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks again Shrink57 on the heads up with the K-9 app.

Thx,
MCJ

I have the same need - have posted several times - but so far I have not found ANY email client which allows you to create folders - K9 does not.

Sure seems like a valuable feature and shouldn't be that hard to code.
