Email Issue - Help please !

Hi, I have set up my gmail account to my S3, and the emails are coming through and sending fine, however, I cannot get the phone to notify me when an email arrives ? - I want it to play a noise like it does when a text comes through. I have gone into settings and ticked that I want email notifications, but still it does not make a sound when an email arrives. I have to physically go into the email icon then the email is sitting there ?Any help would be much appreciated - thank you

Under the email notification section there should be an option for Vibrate and an option for Ring.

If you select the Ring option it should pop up a dialog box with all the ringtones on the phone and from there it may default to Silent, but you can change it to one of the other tones and you should get notified via sound of a new email.
