Email notification problem (dont want them)

Hi guys, can somebody help me stop email notifications, from what i can see i have all my notification off, but still getting emails, i am off to Spain soon and do not want to come back to a huge bill.
How can i stop all notifications, also stop all internet activity.
Phone is a G1 and running 1.6.

Thanks

You can put your phone in aeroplane mode, that stops all network data coming in, people can't phone you and you won't receive texts. You can still use wifi if you find an appropriate place (mcdonalds or starbucks or wherever has free wifi).

Or if you still want to receive calls and texts but just want to cut the data off you could turn off Auto Sync and Background data (Menu > Accounts & Sync on the HTC Legend) think that should stop all data..

staffsmatt, tried what you suggested, but still getting them lol, so looks like the only way to do it will be to use aeroplane mode as Pryomancer has suggested, i am not happy with this at all though, because it means that i will not be able to use the phone at all, because as soon as i take it out of aeroplane mode, emails are going to come in.
I suppose i could remove email account from phone, for whilst i am away.
Would you guys know if it would have any adverse affects on other programs.

Thanks again guys

I'm not sure to be honest, you may lose your contacts if you're synced to gmail....

Just found a tick box on mine called "mobile network - use phone for data connection when wifi is unavailable"

That might work?

it's in Settings > Wireless & networks > if you swype down there are some options there which might sort it...

If you're only configured for one email account, you won't be able to remove it without resetting to factory defaults).

I think what you're looking for is APNDroid (an app in the Market). It will completely disable data. This won't do anything to prevent SMS or voice calls.

I think your subject line may not get the attention you're looking for though, as disabling notifications is very different from disabling data. Though I'm hesitant to suggest double posting, you might want to try starting another thread with a more appropriate title, like:

"Traveling to Spain - how to avoid huge bill?"

or, search the forums for information on minimizing costs during international travel, or checking with your carrier to see what plans/options they can offer.
