Email on phone is not synced to email on computer

So I just got my galaxy s II and I setup my e-mail account (It is mediacom, a local isp, pop3) and I am using the native email app that came with the phone.

Anyways, say I open up the email app, it checks for new e-mails and what not. Say I have no new emails as I have already read all of them via my computer. If I open my phone and check, all of the emails are considered unread. Likewise, if I were to read a new email on my phone, it would be considered unread when on my computer. I just tried deleting emails from my phone and it is not deleted when I check on my computer. Something isnt syncing right?

I had this problem on my other phone that I just upgraded from (1st gen iphone) and I checked all over my isp email settings to find something that I could enable/disable but had no luck. Any ideas?

Thanks!

It is my understanding that there is no sync with the native email apps and pop 3.
I did not want to have to maintain 2 separate email accounts, so I forward all of my roadrunner emails to gmail and manage from there.

You can set gmail to send your emails from your mediacom account. The only problem is that some ISP's don't allow email address spoofing, in which case the emails sent to those ISP's will be sent from your gmail account on behalf of your mediacom account.
