Emails deleted from website not deleting on phone

I just recently upgraded from the Galaxy S4 to the S7 and noticed when I log on to my verizon email account from a computer and delete emails they are not automatically deleting from my phone which used to happen on the S4.

Is there a way to change this so I'm not having to delete more than once on the various devices?

Are you using the Samsung email app or gmail as your email client? Make sure the Verizon email account is setup as an IMAP account on your phone.

or use the yahoo email app, since verizon.net email is hosted by yahoo

Thank you. How do I go about confirming the Verizon email account is set up as IMAP?

Open your email app and most likely go to settings>account>incoming server it will either be IMAP or POP3

I wasn't able to do this successfully so I deleted the email account and installed the My Fios app which solves my problem. Just passing this on for anyone else having a similar issue.
