Help Emoji Keyboards?

Tee26

Lurker
I recently switched from apple to android and now have a Samsung Galaxy S4, and really can't get on with the emojis (image 1). I found an android style I like (image 2) but whenever I use any downloadabld emoji keyboard it shows up as the style I like on the keyboard, but in anything I type in the box it's still the old style (image 3)

Without rooting my device (I don't have warranty on my phone but don't want to risk anything), how can I fix this to get the emojis I like?

Thanks in advance ♡

I've tried all the ones like facemoji and ai. and another I have since forgotten the name of, but all of them show the new emojis on the keyboard but not in the messages as seen here

The emoji problem is easy to explain. Emojis are represented with the help of codepoints. So you send your friend a codepoint (in UTF-8 coding) and not a little yellow picture. Each platform (for example, Samsung or iOS) repeats this codepoint different  So you can not change the emojis on your smartphone, no matter what Emojis keyboard you use.

You stated in your OP you got a Samsung Galaxy S4, quite an old device, and is probably running Android 5.x Lollipop
. Looking at your pic, I think the problem is that Android version doesn't support the emoji you're typing with that keyboard, that's why it's showing boxes instead of emoji, i.e. it's basically too old.

I'm not sure what the latest custom ROM Android version is for S4, like 6.x or 7.x?
