Help emoticons/emojis

Own galaxy s4. How do I access the emoticons/emojis without installing additional apps? I'm looking for the emoticons that are actually picture - like and not just stick lines. Any assistance will be appreciated

When you're typing a message, there's a Smiley face on the left above the keyboard. Click that. You'll see a ton of emotes with 6 tabs full.

There is no smiley face on the left above keyboard. The keyboard I use is the one that came pre - installed with phone. The only things above keyboard are an arrow which allows you to add a word and 2 other suggested words. At the extreme right above keyboard is an arrow pointing down

I'm using the pre-installed one too. But the emotes are not available every time you use the keyboard, only for certain things, like typing a text message.

I wish I could send you a screen shot of my keyboard. There is no smiley face on the upper left side of my keyboard. Menu button does not help. Any thoughts?

There should be a microphone on the left bottom of your keyboard, hold it for about a second or two and a new bar should pop up and it should also show a smiley face, there you will find the emojis
