Anyone know if there is an app or a way to emulate 3G speeds when you have a 4G phone? I know, you are asking why.
I've got a G2 but I can see it's coming to an untimely end fairly soon as I'm a little rough on it. Dropping it from ladders, slipping out of my hand and down a flight of stairs, general clutzyness etc. I've looked for some rugged cases for it but they just don't make them for the G2. Plus I could go lighter as I don't use the keyboard.
Anyway, I was looking at some ruggedized phones. There are a few I would like that have the features I need but most of them that don't cost a half grand are only 3G. Considering most of my use is on my bus commute tethering (hotspot) the phone to my tablet so I can check email, light browsing etc I'm just wondering what the speed difference would be and if I would be ok with it. I've gotten pretty spoiled with 4g and don't remember 3g lol.
So I was wondering if there is a setting or app that would restrict 4G. Like maybe a battery saver? I know you can restrict it to 2G in settings but any 3G restrictions?
