Emulator operating system

whats the best emulator for android? i had a buddy tell me that he erased the operating system and installed the firmware to an old nintendo game boy. so when he booted up the phone it would run like a gameboy only ... not sure if he was full of crap but it makes me extremely curious

It depends what you want to emulate...

Your buddy didn't erase the os on his phone, he loaded an app from the play store that allowed him to play old nintendo games.

There are a lot of emulators for older computers, games consoles, calculators etc...

(although there are 'legal issues' about getting the games onto your device etc....)

see thats what i thought .... ive used emulators on my androids before but most were pretty wonky or limited roms i knew he was full of s**t im pretty sure it would take a dev too much time and resources to make such a thing worth it wouldnt it ?

Installing the firmware from a Gameboy on a phone? Technically it's impossible, because firmware is very closely related to the hardware it's running on. You can't simply run the same firmware from a Gameboy on a phone.
You can rewrite it of course, if you have access to the source code, plus the knowledge and skill to port it. But it would be a monumentally difficult task. And probably illegal.

i was thinking the same.... just a tad bit of infringement right lol but i love the idea as far fetched as it was the idea has consumed a part of my thought process for sure
