This is a flashable zip from custom recovery that enables the jit compiler and turns up the dalvik heap to 32mb from 24mb. To disable simply delete the the file it places called local.prop in /data and reboot. It should increase your linpack scores ~ 175%.

thanks. Where exactly would we feel the difference? games, surfing, or also in day-to-day use of the user interface?

:D

Feel good when benchmark score increase

Would that really be all?

EDIT - by the way, is there a list of possible settings that can be tuned through entries in local.prop? I searched but didn't find anything worthwhile (probably my bad)

strangely, this seems to make the phone (or at least launcherpro) kinda sluggish. Any ideas how to solve this?

It certainly does wonders for Linpack, though :) 3.9 vs 7

Jit doesn't work well with all apps but works great on most. For example eclair on ally I had to rebuild calculator.apk from aosp against newer libraries. Is dropping launcherpro worth the performance gain on everything else?

I haven't noticed a performance gain on anything, tbh :) just sluggishness in Launcherpro. I'll test some more in the next couple days (do you recommend clearing the dalvik cache when toggling between JIT and no-JIT?).

Do you know of any app where you feel a real-world performance difference? (games spring to mind; didn't test angry birds, might try tonight)

You should definitely have done this.

EDIT: I read this closer, and it's not the same method we use on the Ally. Maybe here, you don't need to.
