encryption code

[Android Question]

I have a MyTouch 4 G phone on T Mobile. After I unlock it a screen pops up and wants a password. I can cancel it and it will go away. How can I stop it from showing up in the first place. If I go to the notification it states it is an encryption code

I believe it's somewhere like settings > security > encryption
