First, my droid is encrypted. I used Cryptfs to make the pass different from my LockScreen. It was all working great. The issue began last night. Previously I had been using a small, 4gb SD card, and been using Link2SD, following the instructions to create two seperate partitions. We that went alright, except my phone recognized NO file system types except for FAT32. So I had to choose that one. (The beginning of my issues I suspect). After that, it went fine, I linked apps to SD, etc, and space was absolutely no issue. I got a new 16gb SD card late last night, and was excited. Finally... I can perform proper backups now, etc. So I followed same instructions to create partitions on this new card as I did with the smaller 4gb. I moved all my apps back to regular phone, then installed new card, then went about moving them just as before. All seemed alright. Still. Somehow, around 4am last night, My phone decided to make a fool of me. It now reports that I have insufficient space, regardless of what file size I attempt to download from Playstore. Even a small license file of merely kb in size refuses to DL. I my storage reports plenty of space, PLENTY. in the 800mb range. I should be able to easily install anything I want. I cannot. I have no idea what happened, nor how to fix the issue. I am ready to simply Factory Reset.
I mentioned encryption for that reason. I attempted to remove encryption, for the ease of the reset. Ah I forgot to mention I have TWRP installed. I went into Recovery initially to make a backup, and noticed that the LogFile was reporting issues. IT says exactly this in the Log:
E: Unable to mount storage/
E: Unable to mount '/data'
E: Unable to mount '/data'
Now, I am guessing this has something to do with my Encrypted state. Now, as I said, I tried to remove that state, however, upon going into Security, and selecting Remove Encryption, following instructions, etc, my phone resets, I get the little Droid-Gear-Encryption dude. That is usually normal. However, it STAYS on this little guy for at least 5-10 min while doing nothing at all, and then reboots, and asks for the Encryption password as normal. The phone resets as it normally would, and the encryption remains.
This is very frustrating, especially since I did nothing, to my knowledge, that was overtly crazy. This should not be happening in my opinion lol. But since it is, I need help. I would like to simply revert to stock. Start fresh, as it were. I have no issue (hopefully) re-rooting if need be, etc. What CAN'T happen, is a bricked phone, as it is my only one and funds are non-existent. (Life story of rooters, I know) I have spent the day reading on here, XDA, and various other places. There is alot of great info, the bad part is it is all jumbled. So many different opinions as to what the best procedure would be, whether Factory Resetting is an ok thing, or if its not, etc. I DID do research before I wrote this post. But I am writing it now because what I came across is not clear due to the conflicting ideas and instructions.
1. Can or should, I factory reset the phone?
2. Would this solve my encrypted state? (all evidence says that it would, but the logfile says it cannot read the data?)
3. Is it better to simply flash a stock rom, as opposed to a factory reset?
I would greatly appreciate help. I cannot install anything due to the Insufficient Space error, no matter how many apps I remove.
EDIT: So while waiting for any advice at all, I simply reinstalled the OS, started fresh. This can be closed/deleted now.
