Entering Date of Birth on a Date Picker

Jason Broad

Lurker
Every time I try to fill in my personal details on my Galaxy S7 "recently" I am faced with a Date picker to select my date of birth.
The problem is that it has a page per month and it defaults to the current month and year.
I was born in 1971 which means I have to scroll through 540 months to get to 1971.
There appears no way to skip faster and no way to key in the date manually.
Surely I must be missing something? is this down to poor app design or is it my handset.
I have had this on Virgins Red app and TGI Friday in the last month.
Does anyone know a work around?

Thanks

At the top where it has the year, can you long press and type the year in?

Oh yes you can. well actually not even long press
I thought I had tried everything. I had tried clicking the date but you actually have to specifically click the year which is really small and pale so it never occured to me to specifically target that.
when you do that you get a year picker rather than a month picker

Maybe its just me being thick but I don't think that is very intuitive

Anyway thanks for the help

If you put your cursor on the back arrow and hold it down it should scroll pretty fast to the past.
I have found a solution now (see above) but thanks for your suggestion though I am not sure what you mean by a cursor. you can click the back arrow 570 times but it takes a while

Thank you for asking and answering this question. I was having to manually scroll to 1956(!), and thought, 'There HAS to be a better way!' 😅
