Entire touchscreen unresponsive

My V10 has been buggy for a few months. I've had a random cluster of reboots a month or so ago, but it hasn't had a reboot since. The new problem is the entire touchscreen randomly goes unresponsive when using the device (three times since Friday). The power button works, but the only thing I can do is unlock the phone with my fingerprint so I just pull the battery to fix it. Not sure if this is the dreaded Facebook Messenger issue because that was only part of the touchscreen going unresponsive and my issue is the entire screen. Could this be a hardware problem? Thinking about using a T-Mobile Jump but options very limited.

Some things I've considered:

-haven't factory reset my phone yet
-turned on encryption recently, but these problems existed before
-switched anti-theft software and use a VPN with Chrome but problems existed before
-no new apps downloaded since the freezing started (lots of app updates though)

Most of the time, I don't have any lags or hang ups but I have noticed the occasional V10 lock ups for the last few months too. I just wait it out till it frees itself up and then reboot. What I have noticed, every time, is that it immediately starts downloading updates.

Could the lock ups be from devoting too much of the resources to pinging Google Play and waiting for a response?

I haven't done a factory reset either (takes me days to get it back to "normal") and I'm running BitDefender AV.

Weird. My V10 never frees up. I went to pick something up at my doctor's and left my phone frozen in my pocket for half an hour and it was still frozen...pulled battery. Maybe I'm too impatient.

I've never noticed but I'll make sure to check if updates pour in after I turn it back on. I have had clusters of Gmail pop in after pulling the battery. Maybe Google Doze causing lockups? (I admit I'm not 100% sure how that feature works). You may be on to something there.

Yeah. Factory reset is a pain. I was using Norton until Lookout fixed their safe browsing for Chrome. Now that Lookout fixed their Chrome incompatibility issues I went back to Lookout. Lookout had a huge update last night and kind of rebranded themselves with a new look. Too bad my V10 had the issues before that.

I've also observed in the past that with swapping batteries I've had a buggy response from my V10 when the new battery is put in. Just lasts a little bit. My extra battery and charging cradle are direct from LG. It seems like it's buggy with both the original and replacement battery if I remember correctly. I've swapped batteries about three times since Friday. On Saturday the phone was locked up when I unplugged it from charging (phone wasn't hot and I didn't use quick charge). Hmmm....

Had the entire touchscreen freeze again today after a lot of app crashes (Gmail seems to always be one of the crashes). Had to pull battery. One observation I made was it locked up when I tried to engage "mini view" by swiping across all of the "home touch" buttons. I turned this feature off to see what happens.

Really frustrating being I thought I had a keeper with this phone (was going to quit using my jumps). Now with T-Mobile's limited selection of phones I basically have to get a Samsung or Apple phone if I use a jump. Not sure I could get used to the limits of an iPhone and I don't want a glass-backed phone. Want to try something other than LG being I've gone from the G2, G3, G4, to the V10.
