Help Erratic texting problem.

I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia 10, had it for about 9 months without problems. But just lately the texting is all over the place. One minute I can send and receive, then I can send but not receive, then can't send, then can't do anything. I've read a few posts on this site for other phones but I'm not techy at all and the whole thing went flying over my head. Not sure if this is a phone issue or something to contact my carrier about. Any help is much appreciated.

A problem such as that, which is not constant don't sound like a problem ith the phone but more with the network provider. They would be my first port of call if I were you. :D

In Messaging, if you haven't delete all your old messages.

If you have had your phone for 9 months and haven't done any updates or haven't cleaned it....it is like a computer, it does need maintenance.

Easiest thing to do would be to just back everything up (do a sync to backup your contacts, and copy all the stuff off the phone by copy and pasting or drag and dropping everything on your computer) and then reinstall 2.1.

But there is no need to do that yet. Simply try and clear out old messages first. Once I have over 500 messages I do notice the messaging app slows down.

Dude above is probably right and if it is intermittent then it may have something to do with the connection to your provider.

One more thing....if your provider changed their MMS settings. Try this...can't hurt...only takes seconds if it is an option.

Hit Menu button, open Settings is the top option Sony Ericsson? If it is, select it and chose to Download Settings, this will get the settings from your service provider.

For all you know they changed the settings or added another server...or are transitioning users to a new server.

id prob go with contacting carrier/checkin settingz! i mean i used messaging all the time.. and ive lost thousands but even at this present moment iv got like 5-6 thousand msgz and i dont really notice hardly any delay tbh! anyhu thats just my opinion i gues!

Just want to say thanks to everyone for the offered help. Funnily enough deleting the many texts I had in my phone seems to have done the trick, so far. Fingers crossed. Sorry I'm so late coming back to let you know, hope this help someone else who's new and clueless like me. Thanks.
